Yesterday a lot of events happened! First, a new rule was introduced and Nelson Snyder could continue the tour despite a penalty which is costing him a loss of positions.
Stage 4 started with a brutal performance during the first climb where a small group made a selection. Panarese, Kerpl, Sousek and Pascal made a gap. After, Pascal suffered and had to join the second group with Stagnitta, Cristaldi and Kästner.
During the second climb of the day another strong effort by Panarese who is confirmed himself as pure climber in this Tour. Despite the group of three was compact at Scott Pass, the long descent was fatal for Panarese who lost the wheels of Kerpl and Sousek. They continued to push and with a good organization arrived to Wanaka for the final sprint.
Final sprint won by Kerplbut the Blue Jersey went to Sousek! For the general standing now Snyder needs to overturn the Tour in order to recover from the top.
Category A
Lukáš was originally put in Category A+ but after a bad day in Stage 3 was downgraded in Category A where he did a very good jump forward yesterday. In Category A Stagnitta is now the leader, overtaking Majewski as he lost 30 seconds yesterday.
Stagnitta followed closely Alfio after Alfio showed big numbers during the ascents. Kästner as Stagnitta joined to the group for the final sprint but during the climb he was a bit late. In Category A the fight is open.
Category B Sijmens is the leader of Category B and he seems in control of the situation. Mrklovský not at the same level during the first climb but during the second climb Mrklovský was very close in terms of effective time to his rivalry. Van Aerschot and Richards are fighting for the podium.
Category C
In Category C Marullo won another stage and he is confirming to be good but in the overall ranking he is suffering the huge time lost in Stage 3. In the overall standing Bonckaert has a solid leadership with Dutton the 2nd.
Category D Kew is the 1st and he won the Stage 4 distancing Grant who is reaming the only lady of the Tour. Great kudos for Dessaux who is there despite the loneliness.
